The Opera
On the 29th of May we went to the Blackwater Valley
Opera in the Lismore Castle. We went with the school and we met in the
playground car park at 7:30pm. We went with Mrs O’ Mahony, Ms O’ Mahony, Mr Phelan
and Mrs Kennefick. We went into a large auditorium and 4th class got
front row seats. Then “l’Italiana in Algeiri” began.
A man
came out and told the audience not to eat or drink during the performance. Two
women came in drunk and dizzy and fell onto a pile of cushions. Then the man
running the hotel came in and started singing for an Italian woman. Then he cut
up all his old wife’s credit cards. Then the chorus came in. A ship was wrecked
at sea and an Italian woman washed up on the shore and decided to stay in his
hotel.
We enjoyed it very
much. We got home at 11pm, we were so tired. So that is the end of our
great day!
